According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the leading cause of death among persons aged 15 to 29 years old are injuries from road traffic accidents. All over the world, more than a million people lose their lives on the road, and if effective and sustainable measures do not come into effect, the WHO predicts that by the year 2030, road crashes will be the seventh leading cause of death.

Road Safety

If you drive a motor vehicle on a daily basis, you must pay attention to traffic rules. Distracted driving is a huge worry in many developed countries today. If you are a pedestrian, you have to take extra care when crossing the street, or when walking to work. Pedestrians are among the most vulnerable users of roadways, along with cyclists and motorcyclists.

Driving Cars Responsibly

The leading cause of road traffic injuries in the United States arises from car accidents. While there are more injuries than fatalities, the losses are tremendous. In the wake of these accidents, damages incurred can be long-lasting and disabling. Law firms offering personal injury counseling in Utah deal with hundreds of cases every year.

Most Common Physical Injuries from Road Accidents

Traumatic brain injuries may result from more severe head trauma. Neck injuries are on top of the list as well. Whiplash injuries result from the sudden forward movement that damages ligaments in the neck. Spinal cord injury and disc herniation may be incurred as well. Lower back injury from car accidents is a common complaint. Some even suffer from fractured vertebrae, and possible spinal cord contusion or severance. Leg and knee injuries are common in road mishaps, which may be as severe as complex fractures of the leg bones, and dislocation of hip and knee joints.
