Paralegal DutiesWorking as a paralegal means facing daily difficult tasks and challenges. However, with the kind of money they make, mind-challenging duties they have, and the fact that they are part of the justice system makes it all worthwhile.

Paralegals are extremely busy people, because they have numerous challenging tasks and responsibilities. In a nutshell, they support the lawyers they work for through the following:

Investigations

One of their primary duties is to conduct fact-gathering and investigations pertinent to the case and research regulations, laws, and legal articles relevant to the case. For them to complete these tasks, they need to stay in contact with their clients as well as witnesses and other people who may have a relation to the case.

Organization

They also take responsibility for the organization and maintenance of crucial documents either in paper or through the use of electronic filing. They conduct legal document- and evidence-gathering and organize them so that the lawyer can easily review and prepare for a case.

Documenting

When a case needs to go to trial, paralegals have to write and summarize reports that will assist the lawyer with the case. They are also responsible for acquiring formal statements, such as affidavits, that the lawyer can use in the court as evidence. Additionally, they draft any legal document, including correspondence, mortgages, and contracts.
